A true testament to Victorian-era craftsmanship, this stunning 10-rayed star brooch pendant is crafted in silver and gold and features a dazzling array of 41 antique-cut diamonds with an estimated total weight of 4 carats. The diamonds—16 old mine cuts, 10 single cuts and 15 rose cuts—are meticulously arranged to highlight the star's intricate design, with each ray radiating brilliance.

At its centre sits a breathtaking old mine cut diamond, estimated at 0.75 carats, measuring approximately 6mm in diameter. This diamond captivates with its bright white sparkle, estimated G/H colour and VS2 clarity. Surrounding the central stone, five rose-cut diamonds accentuate the star-shaped setting. The longer rays, each adorned with two old mine cut diamonds, one single-cut diamond and one rose-cut diamond at the tip, extend from the centrepiece, while the shorter rays hold one old mine cut, one single-cut and one rose-cut diamond each.

The diamonds display a harmonious range of colours, from bright white, near colourless, to a very faint yellow (G-K), creating depth and character. Clarity ranges from VS2 to SI1, showcasing the unique beauty of antique diamonds. The brooch measures 32.5mm long (excluding the pendant bail) and 34mm wide.

Designed with versatility, this piece features a secure brooch pin with a safety chain and a folding pendant bail, allowing it to be worn as a brooch or pendant. We are happy to remove the safety chain at no additional charge upon request.

A screw fitting on the back hints at its likely origins as part of a grander suite, perhaps a tiara or hair ornament, further emphasising its historical significance.

The brooch is in excellent antique condition with minor wear expected for its age, such as small nibbles to some diamonds and some natural patina in areas, including around a few of the smallest diamonds, making them appear darker.  There are no noticeable hallmarks on the piece, which has been tested as silver and gold (between 12-15ct gold on the back of the star and 9ct gold on elements of the brooch and pendant fittings).

This timeless piece embodies the Victorian fascination with celestial motifs, which symbolised hope and guidance during the 19th century. Stars like this were often designed as part of larger suites, reflecting the era's opulent style and versatility in jewellery.
