A beautifully early crescent dating to around 1820-1840, crafted in the classic Georgian–early Victorian combination of silver backed in 8ct gold.  Crescents from this earlier period are far less common than their later 19th-century counterparts and are increasingly sought after by collectors for their scarcity and handmade character. Converted from a brooch, this pendant has a newly fitted large, chunky 18ct gold fixed bail for modern wear.
 
The crescent is set with characterful hand-cut rose-cut diamonds, each displaying the subtle quirks of early cutting: irregular facets, warm internal flashes, and gentle tinting that reflects the aged patina of the silver-backed settings. Measuring 20.5mm in diameter and weighing 2.47g, it sits delicately on the neckline yet carries the presence of an artefact made entirely by hand nearly two centuries ago.
 
The arc shows the organic curve typical of early crescent jewels, slightly irregular, with a naturally softened tip from generations of wear, lending authenticity and charm. Some antique nibbles are visible to the diamond girdles, as expected for a piece of this age.
