A wonderfully unusual antique bicolour long chain, combining rich yellow 18ct gold with cool-toned platinum in an intricate mixture of link styles.
At an elegant 26.80 inches long, the chain alternates between classic curb links and beautifully detailed sections of elongated paperclip-style links joined by decorative knotted links. The contrast between the warm yellow gold and bright platinum gives the chain an incredible amount of texture and visual interest, while still feeling wonderfully wearable.
One of my favourite details is the substantial 15.5mm antique dog clip, stamped “B&S”, which can be worn to the front as a feature in its own right or used to suspend a favourite pendant, charm or antique treasure. As photographed, it looks particularly fabulous with larger statement pendants, but the chain is equally beautiful worn completely on its own.
The generous length makes this such a versatile piece for layering and neck messes, while the fine approximately 2.5mm width keeps it elegant despite all of that fabulous detail.
The metals have been XRF tested, confirming approximately 18ct gold and platinum. The gold has a lovely vibrant yellow tone, beautifully contrasted by the cooler white platinum sections.
In excellent antique condition, with the character and subtle signs of age expected from a piece that has survived so beautifully.
